• What is Agrimony

Agrimony is a perennial herbaceous flowering plant found native to the northern hemisphere and is found in abundance across England. Drugs.com says, “The name Agrimonia may have its origin in the Greek ‘agremone’ which refers to plants which supposedly healed cataracts of the eye. The species name eupatoria relates to Mithradates Eupator, King of Pontus, who is credited with introducing many herbal remedies.”

The miracle herb has been called a panacea (the greek goddess of Universal remedy), and it’s not hard to see why. This unique plant has a long history of medical applications, ranging from foot bathes for tired feet, to eye problems, acne, and diarrhea.

While agrimony has been used for just about everything throughout history, today it is commonly used as a tea and gargle for sore throat, or externally as a mild antiseptic and astringent. Drugs.com notes that, due to limited research, “There is no published clinical … dose; however, the German Komission E recommended a daily dose of 3 g of the herb for internal use. Agrimony also is used as a poultice from a 10% decoction of the herb.”

In addition to being an astonishing cure-all, agrimony is used as a yellow dye, to dress leather, and in floral teas and spring-time beverages. Botanical.com describes the plant as “deep green … [with] a slightly aromatic scent; even the small root is sweet scented, especially in spring. The spikes of flowers emit a most refreshing and spicy odour like that of apricots. The leaves when dry retain most of their fragrant odour, as well as the flowers, adding a peculiar delicacy and aroma to its flavour.”

Because the Greeks named agrimony for its healing properties for the eyes, it’s fitting that Gourmet Body treats uses this herb in our Agrimony Eye Cream. This cream helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, dark circles, and other signs of aging. Made with natural extracts and organic oils, this vegan eye cream is perfect for all skin types including very sensitive. In addition to all of its great benefits, the Agrimony Eye Cream is on sale for a limited time! Now you can enjoy this ancient remedy at a reduced price.
