Niacinamide, Vitamin B3 is an amazing multi tasker and has a lot of benefits for your skin. It helps reduce wrinkles, reduce uneven skin tone, help heal acne and reduce hyperpigmentation. A lot of research has been done on this powerful little vitamin which proves this ingredient should be part of your skincare arsenal.
According to the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, an article published in 2004 showed niacinamide helps improve the moisture content in the top layer of skin. It can also lead to keratin and ceramide production, which helps smooth out wrinkles and reduce free radical damage. Vitamin B3 also reduces topical inflammation and can help with sun damage.
Another study published in 2009 in the Journal of Dermatological Science showed that Vitamin B3 reduced inflammation of the skin associated with acne vulgaris and can reduce the oil production of skin for overly oily skin types.
A more recent study published in 2015 in the International Journal in the Field of Trauma and Emergency Medicine showed that topical applications of Vitamin B3 increased the rate of skin healing. The study also showed that topical applications of Vitamin B3 improved tissue regeneration through the rapid increase of collagen and vascularization.
