Frankincense essential oil is high in monoterpenes, the main component responsible for making this essential oil antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Frankincense essential oil has the ability to promote the regeneration of healthy skin cells and at the same time protect already available healthy skin cells. Working at a cellular level means skin starts healthy helping to avoid damage and omitting the need to repair damaged skin cells.
As old skin falls off naturally or is removed by cleansing / exfoliating, new skin comes to the surface. Frankincense can also kill bacteria that can interfere with this process making this essential oil great for reducing acne, cleaning out clogged pores and brightening the skin. Aging skin can be the result of many factors including inflammation, overgrowth of bacteria or lack of hydration. Frankincense essential oil helps eliminate many of these common factors that lead to dull, lifeless skin.
Frankincense oil can also help with wound healing and may decrease the appearance of scars. Be careful not to apply it to broken skin, but it’s fine for skin that’s in the process of healing.
