Fall Cosmetic Trends

Written By Tatiana Ryckman 04 Nov 2015

It’s hard to say goodbye to summer. The beach, the long sunny days, the illusion that the fun never ends. But with summer sun comes other hassles, like constantly reapplying your bright summer colors when your eye shadow creases and mascara seems to sweat down your face. Luckily, with the cooler weather also comes a host of cool new trends.

Flushed cheeks are easy to achieve on a brisk winter walk, but you can create the look at home with shades of peach and rose blush. Keep the color light and focused on the apples of your cheeks to get the look that seems so obvious when we think about it: blushing.

We’ve seen bold lipsticks before, but the hues this season are a host of penetrating reds and purples. From scarlet to crushed berry, try these rich colors with subtle eye make-up to keep your look balanced. In response to the trend in deep, brick-reds, makeup artist, Mary Stern, told refinery29, "If you can get away without using mascara, it's really pretty," she says. "A strong brow, clean eyes, and brick lips look great together."

If loud lip colors aren’t for you, though, try a subtle balm with stronger eye palette. Harper’s Bazaar reported their favorite runway tip for creating the perfect smoky eye: “Blend until you think you can't blend any more and then keep going. The result is ultradiffused shadow that, while intense, still feels soft.” Along with a return to classic black liner, this season we’ll see lots of our favorite eye shadow colors in metallic. You don’t have to go as far as Temperley London did on the runway this season, gluing small sequence to models’ eyelids, to get the glitzy effect. Try some of your favorite colors with an iridescent sheen.

Gourmet Body Treats has a host of organic lipsticks and balms, as well as shimmering eye colors perfect for fall. And don’t forget our best seller: GBT Luxe Mascara (because the ingredients are all natural, it smells great). If you can’t make it to one of our Austin area farmers markets to fulfill your fall cosmetic needs, we’ll ship to you—and shipping is free on orders over $25!
