In 1998, Waleska Agosto founded Gourmet Body Treats for a very important reason. She had a sensitive skin condition called Rosacea. As the daughter of an American Serviceman, Waleska grew up in the tropical islands of the Caribbean and Germany. Both countries taught her much. During her younger years in the Caribbean, she worked in gardens. Gaining great respect for the plants and wild life. In her teens, Waleska attended school in Germany. There she grew to love and appreciation simple products and homemade pleasures created by "mom and pop shops." These are the lessons she brought back to America. Frustrated. Tired of skin irritations and complications caused by chemical-filled bath, body and skin care products bought in the U.S., Waleska began making her own soap and cosmetics while attending university in Central Texas, she frequently made her products for friends and family.
Eventually, she started a small website to sell her natural, homemade “mom and pop” style products. Her husband and family became trusted owner employees. Today Gourmet Body Treats has grown quite a bit. We're still family owned. And we continue to make our products the old fashioned way - one small batch at a time. We do this to ensure quality and only use the highest quality ingredients money can buy. Then we pour and package each product by hand. Our goal is to show the world you can make a safe cosmetic – one women love. But it’s important for women to know that it's up to them to keep themselves and the ones they love safe from harmful ingredients – harmful products.
